Stay Safe & Save Energy This Holiday Season!

Our “12 Days of Christmas” tips are here to help you keep your home cozy, safe, and energy-efficient.
We’ve always loved Christmas. Not just because it’s our busiest time of year helping everyone get ready for the season, but because it’s a chance to get creative! 🎁
When Christmas cards were popular, we did love commissioning fun and personal cards for our clients and suppliers. 🎨 We were routing through some old files when we came across a few. They reflect the changes over the last 22 years, from our first ever logo, to our rebrand in 2008 when our blue vans hit the roads🚐💙
Looking through them has brought a smile to our face seeing the journey we’ve been on as a company. One card showed the time when we ventured to three companies, with GF Alarms and GF Gates.  When we first offered our services to do EV charging (with our caricature of Ryan and the famous crow he saved sat in the tree)⚡🐦
The cartoon of Santa’s jumper that inspired us to have a knitted jumper commissioned the year after, modelled by Gary and available in all good stores! 🎅
We’ve had a lot of fun looking over them. So we shall relive our favourites with you for our 12 days of Christmas as our seasonal gift to you this year🎁
Enjoy✨
12 Days of Christmas!
🎄 Day 1 – Check Your Leads

“On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… a lead that’s safe for my tree!”
Check electrical leads for frays or damage to prevent sparks or shocks this season.

🎄 Day 2 – Switch to LEDs

“On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… two turtle doves and LED lights that gleam!”
Replace old bulbs with LEDs to save energy and last longer.

🎄 Day 3 – Unplug Idle Devices

“On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… three devices unplugged, keeping power-free!”
Even when off, electronics draw standby power—unplug or use a power strip.

🎄 Day 4 – Test Smoke Alarms

“On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… four calling birds and alarms that beep!”
Test smoke alarms and change batteries for a worry-free holiday.

🎄 Day 5 – Avoid Overloading Sockets

“On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… five golden rings and sockets safe as can be!”
Don’t overload outlets; spread out plugs to prevent overheating.

🎄 Day 6 – Use Timers

“On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… six lights on timers, shining merrily!”
Timers or smart plugs control lights and save energy.

🎄 Day 7 – Maintain Appliances

“On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… seven clean appliances working happily!”
Keep heaters, fridges, and other appliances in top shape to run efficiently.

🎄 Day 8 – Outdoor Lighting Safety

“On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… eight outdoor lights, safe as can be!”
Ensure cords are rated for weather and avoid tangling extension cords.

🎄 Day 9 – Energy-Efficient Heating

“On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… nine cozy rooms, heated smartly!”
Set thermostats wisely and seal drafts to save on heating costs.

🎄 Day 10 – Surge Protectors

“On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… eleven devices protected safely!”
Use surge protectors to keep electronics safe from power spikes.

🎄 Day 11 – Safe Plug Practices

“On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… eleven plugs used safely!”
Don’t daisy-chain plugs or overload sockets. Spread devices across outlets and use surge protectors for safety.

🎄 Day 12 – Holiday Light Countdown

“On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… twelve hours of lights, shining cheerfully!”
Use timers to limit holiday light hours and avoid overload.
