Billy has been employed by GF Electrical for 9 years! Starting as an apprentice back in 2015, he is now our Contracts Supervisor. We thought it would be a great opportunity to ask Billy on his work anniversary, how his journey to date has been.

One of the primary reasons Billy has stayed with us, is the positive atmosphere. He appreciates his colleagues, describing them as not just teammates but friends. The camaraderie and mutual support among the team make even the most challenging days enjoyable. Our company events, like summer and Christmas parties, further strengthen these bonds and make our employees feel valued and appreciated.

“The variety of work at GF Electrical keeps me engaged and constantly learning. Each project brings new challenges and opportunities to expand my skills. The company also offers ample opportunities for career advancement. I started as an apprentice and have worked my way up to Contracts Supervisor. Thanks to the training and development programs provided by the company. Courses like IPAF and SSSTS have been instrumental in my professional growth.”

Job security is another significant factor for Billy. Knowing that he has a stable position within a company that values its employees; gives him peace of mind and allows him to focus on delivering his best work. The sense of involvement in the company’s activities and decisions also makes him feel like an integral part of GF Electrical.

What Have You Gained?

Working at GF Electrical has been an enriching experience for Billy. He’s gained extensive knowledge and a deep understanding of the electrical business and industry. When he first joined, he learned from experienced seniors like Danny and Darren, who shared their expertise and guided him through the initial stages of his career. The training programs he’s participated in have equipped him with the skills needed to excel in his role.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been the confidence I’ve gained in my new role as a Contracts Supervisor. The support and trust from the company have enabled me to take on more responsibilities and grow.”

What Do You Enjoy Most?

“Customer satisfaction is what I enjoy most about my job, especially on projects I manage. There’s a great sense of accomplishment when a job is completed to the client’s satisfaction, knowing that our hard work and dedication have made a difference.”

From Apprentice to Contracts Supervisor

Starting as an apprentice, Billy has come a long way. His journey has been marked by hard work and determination. Moving up to his current role has been a testament to the opportunities available at GF Electrical for those willing to put in the effort. Taking on more responsibilities and stepping up when needed has been both challenging and rewarding.

Favourite Projects and Moments

One of Billy’s favourite projects was the Brevitt Reiker job, which was extension of their warehouse, involving all new lighting and power throughout approximately 3000 square meters. He enjoyed the responsibilities he had and the overall success of the project. “It was one of the biggest projects I worked on, and I appreciated the scale and complexity.” As this project was ‘away work’ heading to the pub in the evening and spending some time with the lads also contributed to the experience.

What Are You Most Proud Of?

“I’m proud of the progress I’ve made and the ability to pass on my knowledge to others, such as David and our apprentices.” Seeing others learn from him and knowing that he is contributing to their growth is incredibly fulfilling. Stepping up and taking on leadership roles when necessary has also been a significant achievement for him.

In conclusion, Billy’s time at GF Electrical has been marked by growth, learning, and a sense of community. Our supportive environment, opportunities for advancement, and commitment to employee development have made GF Electrical a place where Billy is proud to work.
