Clocks Go Back: How to Stay Safe and Bright This Autumn

As the nights draw in and we turn our clocks back this weekend, many of us will notice darker evenings arriving earlier. While this marks the start of cosy autumn evenings, it also brings increased safety considerations for both homes and businesses.
At GF Electrical Ltd, we want to remind our customers that the change in daylight hours is the perfect time to review your lighting and electrical safety. Poorly lit properties are vulnerable to burglars, accidental trips and falls are more likely and just general feeling of security and safety can be achieved by ensuring your home or workplace is well-lit.
Here are a few tips to keep your property safe and secure:
  • Check outdoor lighting: Make sure all exterior lights are working and consider upgrading to motion-sensor or timer-controlled lights. This not only enhances security but can also save energy.
  • Test your timers: If you use automated lighting inside, ensure timers are adjusted for the new clock setting so your home appears occupied even when you’re out.
  • Inspect electrical systems.
  • Stay energy-efficient: Consider switching to LED bulbs for longer-lasting, cost-effective, and brighter lighting.
Changing the clocks is more than just a minor inconvenience; it’s a good reminder to check your home and business lighting for both safety and efficiency. Simple adjustments can help protect your property and give you peace of mind during the darker months.
If you’re unsure about your home or commercial lighting setup, GF Electrical Ltd can provide professional advice and installation services, from security lighting to smart home solutions.
Stay safe, stay bright, and enjoy the autumn season!
