It’s been 15 years since we employed Darren Cook.

The company was only 2 years old when he first joined as a trainee 15 years ago. Due to his commitment and hard work, he has played a big part in the growth of GF Electrical Ltd to what it is today. This anniversary is just another chance for us to express how grateful we are for his first-rate work!

Trainee to Senior Electrician

Darren has worked through the ranks over the years; Trainee to Senior Electrician, Tester and QS to now our Estimating Manager. He is one of the most helpful guys out there, which is why our clients love working with him and he’s kept longstanding relationships with so many.

With a heart of gold, he is a popular member of the team. From giving his time and knowledge to others, to bringing cakes and biscuits to the office. At GF Electrical Ltd we’ve always said, what makes us great, is the team around us. Darren over 15 years has certainly been a great example of this.

We thought it would be great to ask Darren a few questions about his time with GF Electrical!

Do you remember your first day? What was it like?

“I remember my interview well; it was in a local pub. Times have massively changed!

Gary and I kept going round in circles about my trial days.  My first day was easy. I felt like I was coming back into the trade.  I learnt electrics as a kid alongside my dad, who was an electrician.”

 What is your favourite thing about working at GF?

“The support! Feeling like you’re helping something grow. You are working for the people and the company… not just working for the unknown.”

What is your funniest memory since working here?

“When someone locked himself out of a building and we had to use rods with a hook on the end, to hook the key through the letterbox!”

What has been the appeal for you to stay at GF Electrical?

“I get rewarded for the effort and the work I put in. I have worked my way up the ranks which is also great!”
