Quantum are a Brand Activation Agency, that works with companies to help promote their products or services.
The Brief
Quantum was redesigning their office space. They instructed an interior design company, and we were contacted due to being recommended to Debbie the Managing Director.
This project wasn’t all about function but also brand and design, and how you can use your lighting to change the feel of an office. We were excited to be involved in such a well thought out design.
We discussed the long-term plan of electrical usage and operational plans. Yesss Electrical confirmed appropriate fittings to fit lighting design and lux levels.
The property is an old, converted church which over the years have had different businesses occupy it.
Our Solution
When we first surveyed the site, we said we needed to conduct an EICR before starting any of the work. This is to ensure that the existing electrical installation is in a satisfactory state and has the scope to accommodate the proposed works.
This property failed the EICR. During the project all Code 2 remedials were addressed, including adding an SPD, changing RCBOs from MCBs and changing the aircon isolators.
A full discharge test on the Emergency Lighting showed all had failed. 36 new bulkheads and exit boxes were installed to bring up to legislation standards.
A revamped of the main office area took place by installation of 14 new floor boxes were installed on the Ground Floor due to a change around in the layout of the office. There were a further 10 floor boxes installed on the mezzanine area. Data points were also moved to be in the correct places for desks.
The rest of the project was a combination of aesthetically pleasing lighting as well as functional:
Installation of 12 Led Panels under mezzanine area, these were low glare as they were directly over the desks with a low ceiling.
Lighting above the Mezz was moved to change to the same direction as the desks, an example of design element brought in by the interior designer.
The lighting in the atrium were hung at different heights with different paper size lanterns. This took a lot of communication to get this right and fulfil the visual impact intended for them.
As you can see by the pictures this was a visually pleasant environment, enhanced by a thoughtful lighting plan yet still remained functional for the business needs.
