Welcome to Our New Apprentice, Chris!

The company would like to welcome our newest member to the team, Chris. Our apprentice for 2021! Chris starts his first week at Eastleigh College today.

“I’m excited to start at college, because it will allow me to meet other young apprentices and learn new skills together. This apprenticeship will benefit me by equipping me with a skilled trade, that can allow me to have a good career for life.

At Eastleigh our apprentices can be on block-release, divided into one week at college every three weeks. Benefits of this are the apprentice gets to just concentrate on the theory aspect and be able to give their full attention to study in that week.  They achieve more because of this.

Since starting with us, Chris has been thrown in the deep end working on a refurbishment of a unit/factory but seems to be enjoying the challenge.

“Working with the team has already improved my level of electrical knowledge and skill set. Working at GF Electrical means that I have to get up to the high-level work and skill as my colleagues.”

Because of the structure of the block release, we can assign them to some great jobs. These jobs give many opportunities and a chance to benefit from a range of onsite experiences. For example, working away in London on large sites. You need to have consistent attendance for these types of contracts and day-release students miss out.

Chris is very grateful that he has been given this opportunity during these challenging times. He is really looking forward to learning new things and developing new skills.

It’s great that we have been able to take on another apprentice this year, and we look forward to watching Chris progress during his time with GF Electrical Ltd.
